Food Rules Day 5 Fresh Food Friday

Fresh Food Friday & The Healthy Kitchen

Today's Rule: Don't eat anything out of a box, can, or package; eat fresh produce from the perimeter of the grocery store.

Why: Promotes consumption of whole, unprocessed foods, similar to a Whole 30 approach. If it has a barcode and a shelf life of three years, it’s not going in your body today. We are stripping away preservatives and hidden sugars to head into the weekend feeling electric.

Your Action Plan:

  • Focus On: The perimeter of the grocery store. Fresh meat, vegetables, fruit, and raw nuts.
  • Avoid: Anything with a multi-ingredient nutrition label.

The Lesson:  Your environment strongly affects your behavior, especially in your kitchen. The first law of the kitchen is that if a food is in your house, someone will eventually eat it. A kitchen makeover helps you stay in control by getting rid of non-nutritious stuff. Start by getting rid of obvious junk foods like chips, chocolates, frozen dinners, and soda.

Mindful Habit Challenge: Throw away or donate at least three "obvious junk foods" from your pantry or fridge today.

Coach Ryan's Note

Real food rots. If your food can sit in a pantry for a year, it lacks the active micronutrients your cells need to thrive. Eat living food today.
