Food Rules Day 19 The Lymphatic System . The Body's Sewer System

The Lymphatic System The Body's Sewer System

The Lesson: Flushing the Toxins

You have twice as much lymph fluid in your body as you do blood. This system is responsible for trapping and removing toxins, cellular waste, and infections, but it relies entirely on how you eat and move.

The Science: Unlike your circulatory system, which has the heart to pump blood, the lymphatic system does not have a pump. It relies on muscular contraction and deep breathing to push waste out. When you consume highly processed foods, chemical additives, and excess sodium, lymph fluid becomes thick and sluggish, leading to chronic puffiness, fatigue, and immune suppression.

The Analogy: Your lymphatic system is the city’s sewer network. If the water flows freely, the streets stay clean. But if you start dumping thick sludge and industrial waste (processed foods) down the drain while the water pressure is low (lack of movement), the sewers back up, and the city becomes toxic.
