Food Rules Day 18 Dietary Fats The Brain's Armor

Dietary Fats

The Brain's Armor

The Lesson:   Structural Integrity and Hormones

For decades, we were told eating fat makes you fat. The truth is, your brain is nearly 60% fat, and every cell in your body requires high-quality lipids to function. The key is avoiding the heavy, inflammatory fats.

The Science: Healthy fats (avocados, olive oil, omega-3s from fish) are critical for synthesizing hormones like testosterone and estrogen. They also form the lipid bilayer—the protective wall—around every single cell. However, heavy creams and artificially manufactured trans fats create rigid, inflamed cell walls that block nutrients from entering and toxins from leaving.

The Analogy: Your cell walls are like the security doors to a vault. Healthy fats keep the hinges oiled so the doors open and close smoothly. Artificial fats and heavy creams act like superglue in the hinges, jamming the doors and trapping waste inside the vault.
